Happy Halloween!

I'm not a big Halloween person. I think I used to be, but now I'm old and grouchy.Or possibly just tired from having a 2-year-old at my advanced age.

This project, from the September Paper Pumpkin kit was really fun to make, though! Maybe I'll have to change my mind (again!). All the pieces came in the kit, and really, if you use one of the other stamps ("eat something sweet," for example), the treat could be for any occasion. Might want to leave off the raven, though. :-)

Did you know that if you're a current Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can order select past kits and refills??? Great bonus! If you're not a subscriber, you can become one by clicking here and joining!

Bits & pieces--acetate butterfly tag gets a new life

My desk is getting awfully cluttered up, so it must be time for a few Bits & Pieces projects! Bits & Pieces projects are created from the little extras that I can't bear to throw away, but I don't really have a specific idea in mind.

Remember the acetate tag from my Blendabilities Club meeting in August? Well, I decided to turn it into a card! I cut a piece of Whisper White to 5 1/4 x 4 and stamped the Hardwood background in Wisteria Wonder, to match the butterflies. After mounting that layer to a white card base, I used a few dimensionals to add the tag, as well as a couple tiny glue dots to manage the baker's twine.

What have you got on your creating table that needs a new life? Link up your Bits & Pieces projects here--I'd love to visit your blog or gallery to see them!

Diamond birthday

Another easy birthday card today, featuring my favorite Color Me Autumn DSP. I thought this pattern looked more masculine, so I designed this one for one of my brothers. The greeting is from Four You, a set I find myself reaching for often for cards like this! The leaf is from the Fun Fall Framelits, which comes with a matching stamp set. You can see the dies here. Aren't they darling? I'm a sucker for anything with leaves, so this set makes me happy! The pearls on the banner are colored with Early Espresso Blendabilities.

Gift card framelit--happy acorn version

Do you give a lot of gift cards? I do, particularly to males in my extended family. When I first saw the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits (whew! long name!) in the Holiday Catalog, I knew it needed to come to my house. These go together so quickly, and I love that I can make a somewhat impersonal gift a *little* more special.

For this version, I used the Color Me Autumn DSP for the main envelope. You will want to use the Crease Pad to do this, as the DSP is thin enough that the die cuts through the score lines. The "Happy Day" sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set--one I go back to again and again. The matching Bitty Banners framelits (what else?) make it easy and quick.

Christmas is coming quickly, and if you'll be giving gift cards, think about adding the Gift Card Envelope and Trims Thinlits to your next order!

Halloween Home

I thought I had posted this card already, but apparently I only put it on my Facebook page! This card was inspired by Stampin' Up! Artisan Award Winner Allison Okamitsu. We made it at the October Club meeting, and it was tons of fun! We masked a moon with a punched out sticky note, then sponged Smoky Slate ink everywhere. I like to do a little "inside decorating" when the card base is dark. Here's the simple way we finished this card:

The bits and pieces of this card are all from the Holiday Home stamp set, which also has beautiful autumn, winter, and Christmas art.

Birthday Acorns--it's only the beginning

Another card made with my favorite pattern from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper!

We have a large number of birthdays in the next month. Really. A LOT of birthdays.

Sister, great nephew, brother-in-law, niece, brother, sister-in-law, another brother-in-law, another brother, mom, daughter, another daughter and my father-in-law. You thought I was exaggerating, didn't you! (I had to list them in date order to keep track.) It's a big family, and we love it.

I need cards and gift card holders, and you'll be seeing them all here. This card will work male or female, and it went together quickly! The little banners are punched from scraps of the Color Me Autumn DSP. Other than that, it's just a stamp, a bit of layering, and a quick doodle with my favorite pens--the Project Life by Stampin' Up! Journaling pens! Make a quick stack of cards using this layout and your favorite designer paper you've been hoarding!

Autumn Acorns

Acorns--who doesn't love them? When I was in grade school, our campus was a very old high school, and we got to play among all the huge old trees. A couple were oaks, so in the fall we would sit and gather piles of acorns. The boys threw them at each other of course, but I just loved the textures of the acorns in my hands.

This paper, Color Me Autumn Designer Series from the Holiday Catalog, reminded me so  much of those days. See that curled ribbon in Cajun Craze??? It's made from very thin strips of cardstock. Details like that make me happy. And you know I'm a sucker for a stamp set with a matching punch! Merry Everything has a stamp for every fall occasion, and the Note Tag Punch is a lovely shape!

What do you love about autumn?

Scattered Thanks for Club

Because 2 of the Club projects were pretty detailed, I wanted one card that was quick but still dramatic. Thank you, Seasonally Scattered! I love this set! I've loved it since I first saw it. I often need a card I can just stamp and be done, don't you? For this "thanks" card, we inked the stamp in Crushed Curry and then used a sponge dauber and Tangerine Tango ink to add a bit of contrast. Tie some 2-tone trim, add a few leaves (Fall Fun Framelits), and it's done!

Seasonally Scattered has 3 great images:

Don't you love them???

Bits & Pieces Masked Flower Patch

There's quite an autumn feel to the air here, so I better get my last "summery" flower card blogged! This was another leftover from September's Club planning, and it couldn't be simpler. I used an oval framelit to cut a mask for my card front, then sponged Crumb Cake ink through the mask. The flower pieces are from the Flower Patch photopolymer set and the coordinating Flower Fair Framelits. The only stamping I did was the sentiment, from And Many More. Sometimes you just need a simple card, right?

What's under your embellishments???

This is a card we aren't making tonight at Club. :-) It was part of the creative process, though! See those cute little flowers? Underneath them is a splotchy inked edge of the stamp. It never ceases to amaze me that I can still "catch an edge" after all these years of stamping. But that's what embellishments are for!

I used the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack to cut flowers from Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, and Early Espresso. Then I ran them through the Polka Dot embossing folder for a little texture.

There are no mistakes in stamping, just opportunities for embellishment!
