Paper Pumpkin Monday: Watercolor Chalkboard Birthday

The April Paper Pumpkin kit has SO many fun things! I love the free bonus stamp set, All About Everything. I used it here with white craft ink on one of the adorable chalkboard tags included with the wreath kit. The pierced, scalloped border draws the eye to the message on the tag.
The background has been sitting on my desk, waiting for inspiration to strike me. I made it by putting ink (Mint Macaron and Gold Wink of Stella) on a clear acrylic block, spritzing with water, and stamping on watercolor paper. The ink does all the work with this technique!
Thank you for visiting my blog. Come back every Monday for more Paper Pumpkin ideas!

Picture Perfect Sea Star

Picture Perfect is among my top sets from the Occasions Catalog. I love all the images, but I think the Sea Star is the simplest to use. Here, it is stamped first in Blushing Bride and second in Calypso Coral. Look for the white "lines" (no ink) as you line up the images. Gold Wink of Stella on the center ties to the gold patterned paper from the Neutrals Collection.

Paper Pumpkin Monday: Circles and Stripes for March 2016

I have been cutting up the large envelopes in the March Paper Pumpkin kit because I love the paper so much! Here, I punched a circle element to add to this mostly stripey card. The Washi tapes are from the In Color hostess set in the Occasions Catalog.

There is always a lot to use in each kit! The stamp set and ink spot are the main features for me, especially since I use my MISTI so much. Ink spots make the MISTI even better! The papers and the "bits and pieces" in each kit always thrill me. I love to see what else I can use them for.

Picture Perfect Hummingbird

Every year, we see a few hummingbirds in the gardens outside our front window. We watch for them and make sure we have plenty blooming at all times. When I saw the set Picture Perfect, I knew I had to have the hummingbird!

It's a 4-step process to get him, but it's much easier than it sounds. One of the steps is just the throat stamp. I found it helpful to line up the eye with the other 3 stamps, but the tail feathers help too.

The vellum is from the (now retired) Sale-a-bration Botanicals Vellum stack. I wanted a subtle background that wouldn't detract from the beauty of the main image.

Paper Pumpkin Monday: Dragonflies Just for You

This card features the card base, pearls, and stamp set from the March Paper Pumpkin kit: Pocketful of Cheer. When the card bases are printed on the front and the back, I like to cut them up so I can make 2 cards. I love the softness of this printed spatter. All I added was a few pearls, the sentiment, and 2 dragonflies.

The dragonflies are die cut from an otherwise failed watercolor experiment. I was trying for a series of greens for a background, but it turned out too dark. I even added some Gold Wink of Stella, but I couldn't visualize a finished card with the resulting watercoloring, so I set it aside. A few weeks later, I was looking for something to die cut with my new dragonfly dies, and the discarded background caught my eye. I realized that with the shimmer added to it, it was perfect! I have a few other cards I made using this technnique that I will share in the upcoming weeks.

Never throw away watercoloring, even if you don't love it at first!
