Mixed Media Butterfly
I made this card for the Mixed Media challenge Mix23 over at Splitcoaststampers. The challenge was to use at least 3 different surfaces--other than cardstock--on a project.
I immediately thought of some great materials in my "other cardstock" drawer. This wood-look vinyl is from a report cover--I got a small stack of it from my dad many years ago, so it brought back some sweet memories. I cut it with the Top Note die. I used the Honeycomb embossing folder on some cork shelf-liner and then rubbed a little ink over it to give it some depth. The Natural Trim seemed perfect--so I stamped the sentiment from Sweet Essentials on it and outlined it in Calypso Coral marker. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies set and is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with re-inker and an Aquapainter.
If you're thinking Mixed Media is too messy for you, think again! It can reflect any style--and you're probably already doing it without knowing how trendy you are.
This card also fits the Friday Mashup FM117 Challenge by including pearls, butterflies, coloring, and some of my favorite things!
Don't forget to order your favorite Designer Series Papers while they're on sale this month! And if you use the Hostess Code for July: 9ZPRPCFK

Tag, You're It!
I'm late to play, but it was fun to try the challenge over at Just Us Girls #195. It was to make 4 coordinating tags--I don't know how coordinated my tags were, other than shape and layout, but it was a fun challenge!
I used the Apothecary Accents framelits for the tags, along with a little "hole" framelit from the Chalk Talk framelits. The designer paper is Epic Day. The sentiments are from a variety of sets: Banner Greetings, It's Your Birthday, Chalk Talk, and Sweet Essentials.
These tags are all set to go on gift bags or other packages. I love tags! Which one is your favorite???

Coastal Cabana Gift Tag
I really love this year's In Colors! Today's tag features Baked Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana.
I used the Chevron embossing folder again and the largest tag shape from Apothecary Accents Framelits. The little tag "hole" is a framelit from the new Chalk Talk set! So cute! The polka dot DSP is from the In Color stack, and the layer behind the sentiment is another Apothecary Accents framelit. Notice the yummy ribbon? It's Ruffled Stretch Trim, available in all 5 of the new In Colors. It's perfect to fit around a mason jar gift.
The Simply Pressed Clay is one of my favorite new products. It's easy to use, and with re-inkers, I can make buttons and flowers in ANY color I want.

Brown Sugar Gift Card Holder
Seems like I've been mailing out lots of gift cards lately! I love this holder made from the Stampin Up Pop n Cuts base die. It's just three simple score lines--fast and easy.
With the flat edge of the card base to the left of your Simply Scored, score at 1 inch, 3 3/4 inches, and 8 1/4 inches. Done! Fold on the score lines and the tabs fit into the little slots. I copied the idea from this blog.
To decorate this gift card, I used
Stamps: Label Love (NEW!)
Paper: Quatrefancy Specialty DSP (NEW!), New In Color Baked Brown Sugar
Ink: Island Indigo, Baked Brown Sugar re-inker
Accessories: SU Pop n Cuts card base, Chevron embossing folder, 2 1/2" circle punch, Artisan Label punch (NEW!), Island Indigo Baker's Twine, and the fabulous NEW Simply Pressed Clay and Button Mold
Here is the inside view. I cut a piece of cardstock 3x4 and rounded the corners. Then I adhered the giftcard with glue dots.
Don't forget to place your new catalog order by June 15 using the Hostess Code P3MDA6WJ You'll be entered in the drawing to win the hostess benefits from the order, and your order will be shipped immediately right to your door!
