Flower Fold Swap

My girls have gone crazy over these! We've made lots and lots, but somehow they've all disappeared from my craft room! LOL

I created fabric squares of cotton batting sandwiched by my fabric. Then I used the Flower Folds Die and the Big Shot to cut the Flower Fold shapes. After they were cut, I used my sewing machine to add the stitching details. We added the tulle (fine netting) to fill out the flower, and sewed everything together! Add a button or brad to the top layer, and you can make your very own, custom colored hair clip! My daughters assure me that these big flowers are totally cool right now, so make some for yourself or your favorite girl today!

Fruitful Pincushions

Now that the due date for these swaps has passed, I am going to post mine! This was my favorite, I think. I found this amazing fruit fabric at a specialty quilt shop and had to make *something* with them.

I bought coordinating flannel and felt, and die cut 2 layers of fabric along with 2 layers of flannel (or one layer of felt, in some cases) with my Big Shot and Scallop Square die. I first stitched the Old Olive striped grosgrain between the layers, then stitched all the way around, leaving half of one side open. I stuffed it with polyfill as tightly as I could, allowing for space to finish the stitching. Then I put it back in my sewing machine to finish off! You could do this by hand, if you want to, but it's very simple to do on a machine.

You can see that I made various matching die cut flowers for the pincushions--I used the Flower Layers die and coordinating felt and flannel. The decorative machine stitching really made the flowers pop, I think! Then I stitched on a button (all Stampin Up!) and attached it to the pincushion.

It's so easy to make projects when the cutting is all so exact! Everything matches up much more easily. Check out my online store to order the Big Shot and dies for your next textile project!

Fleurette clippies!

It's very possible I'm addicted to making these cute little hair clips! I loved these Fleurettes from last year's catalog, and I had saved them, knowing I would eventually (ha!) come up with the perfect project for them! Super easy, they'll get used, and you should see the smiles on my daughters' faces when they wear 'em!

This year, the Stampin Up catalog has plain white fleurettes (page 180). You could die them to match a certain outfit, or add colorful accents with felt or other fabric. They don't have to be for hair, either! Use them on your cards or scrapbook pages, or add them to a backpack or book bag!

Felt gift bag

I made this to hold a gift for my friend Brandi! It's very simple, but a fun way to package an oddly shaped gift! (what was inside, not Brandi!) I used the Flower Layers die to cut my felt and then stitched it to accent the shapes. It's easy and simple! You could sew the bag by hand if you wanted to, but I used my sewing machine. The Real Red corduroy brad was perfect for the flower center!

Coaster Box!

My friend Holly posted this coaster 3D challenge over on Stampin Addicts! She's so great at coming up with these! Here is my version, made with the Welcome Neighbor DSP you can get FREE during Sale-a-bration!

I love the satin ribbon--it is so lovely to work with. My little ribbon rose is made from the Pretty in Pink satin, and the handles and "stripe" are from Chocolate Chip. 

I added the doodling because I want to be like my fabulous friend Brandi when I grow up! She has such a talent for details, and this is as close I can come to her genius. :-)

Big Shot Felt Pretties

 

Have you noticed how everyone is using the Big Shot with fabrics lately??? I've fallen in love with textile die cutting! I joined a swap on Stampin Addicts and soon I'll be able to show you what I made! 

Meanwhile, here is a sampling. The basket is cut from felt with the Baskets and Blooms die, and then stitched together. It's decorated with stitched felt from the Sweet Pea collection (117266, Occasions Mini p 32). They are really fun, and brighten up any project! The wide hair clip is made with small felt flowers die cut from the Baskets and Blooms die, and the centers are from the Sweet Pea felt again. The two front clips are also from the Sweet Pea felt.
