Mixed Media Butterfly

I made this card for the Mixed Media challenge Mix23 over at Splitcoaststampers. The challenge was to use at least 3 different surfaces--other than cardstock--on a project.

I immediately thought of some great materials in my "other cardstock" drawer. This wood-look vinyl is from a report cover--I got a small stack of it from my dad many years ago, so it brought back some sweet memories. I cut it with the Top Note die. I used the Honeycomb embossing folder on some cork shelf-liner and then rubbed a little ink over it to give it some depth. The Natural Trim seemed perfect--so I stamped the sentiment from Sweet Essentials on it and outlined it in Calypso Coral marker. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies set and is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with re-inker and an Aquapainter.

If you're thinking Mixed Media is too messy for you, think again! It can reflect any style--and you're probably already doing it without knowing how trendy you are.

This card also fits the Friday Mashup FM117 Challenge by including pearls, butterflies, coloring, and some of my favorite things!
