Shake it up, baby!

I almost missed posting this week! We've been so busy, I'm not sure how we got it all done.

This week, our oldest daughter graduated from college, and this is the card I made for her. It's a shaker card, inspired by a presentation at Stampin' Up's convention last week. (I didn't get to go, but I was able to watch some of it streamed live.)

The shaker part is made by using a window sheet and some Designer Series Paper (DSP). Use Washi tape (from the Epic Day collection) to adhere three sides, then add your cute "shakees." I used the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and the Epic Day DSP, along with the Champagne Glimmer paper. Finish off the top with more Washi. I adhered it to the card with dimensionals and added the cute ribbon from Blue Ribbon set. The card base is embossed with a sneak peek--the Stylish Stripes folder from the upcoming Holiday Catalog--available starting August 1!

Stamps: Blue Ribbon
Paper: Baked Brown Sugar, Epic Day DSP, Champagne Glimmer paper
Ink: Pool Party, Gumball Green
Accessories: Big Shot, Stylish Stripes TIEF, Window Sheets, Itty Bitty Punch pack, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch

Pistachio Pudding Just for You

It's been such a hot summer here--up to 114!--which is too hot, even for the high desert. This card reminds me of spring and cooler weather!

This Pistachio Pudding card uses the new Simply Pressed Clay and molds--I am having so much fun making little flowers and buttons to match any project! It's very easy and quick to do, and the flowers and buttons are a perfect extra touch! This flower (the medium size) has a tiny pearl in the center and a flag of cardstock behind it. I cut the window in the designer paper with one of the Chalk Talk framelits. Tags are so versatile, and these are great shapes. The greeting is from Label Love.

Don't miss out on the Buy 3 Get One Free Designer Series Paper special that runs all of July--there are so many beautiful papers, and this is a great excuse to  hoard buy more! Check it out on my website.

Mixed Media Butterfly

I made this card for the Mixed Media challenge Mix23 over at Splitcoaststampers. The challenge was to use at least 3 different surfaces--other than cardstock--on a project.

I immediately thought of some great materials in my "other cardstock" drawer. This wood-look vinyl is from a report cover--I got a small stack of it from my dad many years ago, so it brought back some sweet memories. I cut it with the Top Note die. I used the Honeycomb embossing folder on some cork shelf-liner and then rubbed a little ink over it to give it some depth. The Natural Trim seemed perfect--so I stamped the sentiment from Sweet Essentials on it and outlined it in Calypso Coral marker. The butterfly is from the Best of Butterflies set and is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with re-inker and an Aquapainter.

If you're thinking Mixed Media is too messy for you, think again! It can reflect any style--and you're probably already doing it without knowing how trendy you are.

This card also fits the Friday Mashup FM117 Challenge by including pearls, butterflies, coloring, and some of my favorite things!

Tag, You're It!

I'm late to play, but it was fun to try the challenge over at Just Us Girls #195. It was to make 4 coordinating tags--I don't know how coordinated my tags were, other than shape and layout, but it was a fun challenge!

I used the Apothecary Accents framelits for the tags, along with a little "hole" framelit from the Chalk Talk framelits. The designer paper is Epic Day. The sentiments are from a variety of sets: Banner Greetings, It's Your Birthday, Chalk Talk, and Sweet Essentials.

These tags are all set to go on gift bags or other packages. I love tags! Which one is your favorite???
