Open Sea

This is my card for the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini swap. I love all things nautical, and I'm so excited we'll have the Nautical Expedition papers and Open Sea stamps for the summer!

I stamped the ship image in Early Espresso ink on an oversized Naturals White cardstock. Then I tore around the image and inked it in more Espresso. I used the handle of a small paintbrush to roll the edges--I was going for an "old map" kind of look.

The DSP is Nautical Expedition--beautiful colors for Father's Day, which is coming up faster than you think! I used Jumbo eyelets and the new Baker's Twine--in Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso--to finish off my main image. The background is stamped with the ship's log image.

Check back tomorrow for the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop. As always, these stampers have some brilliant ideas for you!

More Nature's Walk

This is another card from the set I made for my sister. Faux silk again, and this one has the bunched-up-ribbon on the side. I put down a line of sticky strip, then folded and scrunched (the technical word) the seam binding onto it. I think it looks very springy!

Faux silk for my sister

My little sister's birthday is next week. She'll be 12. Not really, but that's how it should be! Anyway, I wanted to make her some notecards for her birthday, and she's pretty picky. lol She's the tall, thin sister whose house is all the right colors, you know??? We love her anyway. Ok, don't tell her about this blog post.

I decided to go with more faux silk, because I'm still stuck on that technique! And it's so pretty, I thought I had a good chance of making something she'd like! So here is one of the card styles--there are a couple more I'll show ya later. Break out that tissue paper and give Faux Silk a try! and if you love this set (Nature Walk), you need to order it by the end of April, before it goes away! Click over to my Stampin Up shopping site to check it out.

I'll be holding a Mother's Day class on Tuesday, April 26, with cards and gifts to make any of the important women in your life happy! RSVP (and payment) cutoff is 8 am Monday, April 18 so I can get the jewelry ordered in time!  If you can't make it on the 26th, there is a possibility of opening another night, or we can make the projects for you for a small fee. Please let me know if you are interested in one of those options.
